The Tent Factory is designed to provide Christian
Ministries with a low cost way of getting
an online presence. Some web designers out
there charge thousands of dollars to get
you set up, they also have no idea of the
needs of a Christian ministry or organization.
We offer a low cost alternative together
with a Christian work ethic and a desire
to see your ministry become well known on
the web.
The Tent Factory is my way of "moonlighting"
while on the mission field. I do not use
mission funds (including my salary) for personal
hobbies. The things I enjoy as personal hobbies
must find other ways of financing themselves,
if it's not mission related it doesn't come
out of mission funds.
I designed and built my first webpage back
in 1997. It was on Compuserve and wasn't
much to look at. I played with a Geocities
account for a while, but never really developed
the site and so I ended up forfeiting my
"homestead". Finally, in November
of 1999, I built a full fledged mission webpage.
It was hosted on xoom.com. I soon found that
this was not a good idea, there was to much
advertising over which I had no control.
After receiving some negative feedback because
of the type of ads that were displaying on
my site, I took the plunge in December 1999
and registered my own domain name, sacm.net.
This gave me a unique e-mail / webpage identification
which allows me to be easily found on the
web. Folks just have to type www.sacm.net
into their web browser and are taken right
to my online presence. Since I pay for the
hosting there is no questionable advertising
on my site. Nothing appears that I didn't
program myself.
I've been learning as I go along. In no way
can I be considered a "Webmaster".
My coding is pretty much done for me by the
program I use. I prefer the term "webservant"
because that is my goal. To serve the cause
of Christ by the talents and gifts He has
granted me. That is my goal and the reason
for offering this service. I want to provide
an affordable way for Christian ministries
to have an online presence.
In Christ,
Paul W. Moreland
